WSPA appeal for whales
More than 25 years after a global ban on the sale of whale meat for human consumption, whales are again facing increased risk. On the 22nd June, the International Whaling Commission (IWC) will consider a proposal to allow hunting in Japanese coastal waters, effectively lifting the international ban on whaling. This would be disastrous for whales. Many governments seem interested in theproposal, as a way to control Japan’s ‘scientific’ whaling, where whale meat is sold to fund research into 'sustainable' whaling. Unfortunately, this would open the floodgates for the whaling industry worldwide.
WSPA ask you to help whales by calling on Huw Irranca-Davies, UK Minister for the Natural and Marine Environment, Wildlife and Rural Affairs to support the whaling ban and support whales - to sign a pre-written letter online NOW, go to e-activist.com/ea-campaign/clientcampaign.do?ea.client.id=24&ea.campaign.id=3392
