'End of the line'

Some of us went to see the recent documentary 'End of the line' on the 12th June, at the Electric Palace in Harwich. 'End of the line' is about the massive slaughter of fish and other marine life and the environmental destruction caused by industrial fishing, ie over-fishing, based on the book by journalist Charles Clover. The film supports sustainable fishing and ends with three recommendations:
* ask before you buy and only eat sustainable seafood
* tell politicians to respect the science and cut the fishing fleet
* join the campaign for marine protected areas and responsible fishing
Vegans say abandon all fishing and seafoods.
The 'End of the line' web-site includes sections on over-fishing and fish facts, ie that as many as 90 per cent of all the ocean's large fish have been fished out; government subsidies of over $15 billion a year contribute to the world's fishing fleets; and illegal fishing is worth up to $9 billion a year...
