a 'meaty debate'

On 4th October, the 'Saturday Times' included a regular feature on environmentally-friendly activity in the kitchen. This week's feature was entitled 'Green kitchen: meaty debate'.
It referred to the recent statement by Dr Rajendra Pachauri, of the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, in which he suggested reducing meat consumption. However, the feature went on to cite a report which compares the environmental costs of producing different meats, and stated that there '... are shades of grey ...' in the debate about the livestock industry and the environment and climate change...
The feature has now been posted online; read it online and email in your comment at
