Walthamstow Stadium closes

On 18th August, 'The Times' printed a report on the last greyhound race at Walthamstow Stadium in north-east London, on the 16th.
The closure of Walthamstow Stadium means that there are now 29 registered greyhound tracks in the UK, down from a peak of 77 after the war. The shift to betting in shops and online has hit racing tracks. £2.3 billion a year is gambled on greyhound racing, but only £8.76 million of it constituted the Walthamstow tote last year.
