Canadian seal slaughter
In the weeks ahead, hundreds of thousands of these animals will be beaten and stabbed with sharp hooks and sometimes even skinned alive. PETA wants to put pressure on the Canadian government to listen to the millions of people around the world who want this annual slaughter to stop. Seals need your help now. Canada's annual seal hunt - the largest slaughter of marine animals on the planet - is notable for its violence and cruelty.
Hundreds of thousands of harp seals will be killed in a matter of weeks. Most of them will be less than 3 months old, and many will be only weeks old - they cannot escape. The hunters bash the seals' heads with clubs, drag them still conscious across the ice with boat hooks, and then skin them, sometimes while they are still alive. The hunters take the seals' fur but leave their bodies to rot.
Help PETA bring international condemnation to the Canadian prime minister's doorstep; sign their petition now.
