We held a social evening at the Friends' Meeting-house in Colchester on the 1st November to celebrate World Vegan Day. We had our static display, delicious vegan food, friendly NESX vegans, plenty of guests - vegan and non-vegan - an 'instant good food' demonstration by Linda (from tinned chick peas to garlicky hummus in minutes), a short video presentation on the theme of the environment and veganism (video by David Pye of the Vegetarian Society), free information materials, cool background music, and lots of fairylights and real 'Chinese lanterns'.
Annette gave a short welcome speech, and then we all fell on the feast - pizzas, sausage rolls, rice salad, a big bean salad, pasta salad, baby carrots and the hummus, apple juices from Suffolk, Mervyn's apple dessert (by special request), a basket of big red apples from the garden, etc etc etc. The tables were decorated with trailing variegated ivy.

Thanks to the NESX vegans and to all our guests. Again, we enjoyed it - and we hope that you did too.
